My personal reviews of Windows 7
I have been in computers since high school in 1982 and I have seen all the changes in operating systems especially with Microsoft since the old DOS days.
In my off hours I like to have some gaming nights with my friends. We play a lot of various games such as Half Life 2 -Deathmatch, Doom 3, and Quake 4.
I have been automating Windows builds for many large companies in Canada for 15 years along with packaging software.
Like Vista, I loaded Windows 7 - Ultimate Edition when it first came out. The first thing I noticed after loading Windows 7 was my Antivirus was not supported. I then tried installing lots of games and found that 40 percent of the games could not find Direct X 9 and they failed to load.
I believe if 40 percent of my games failed to work in Windows 7, then what about applications that are older?
I bet older Oracle, or Crystal Report software will also have a hard time working in Windows 7 and many other applications.
In my opinion I still believe Windows XP with SP2 or SP3 is still the most stable operating system ever designed by Microsoft as it not only works great, so does most software and games.
I think Microsoft should quit releasing operating systems every few years and focus on a more backwards compatible operating system that works with all software whether it is old or newer, and the same goes with games.
What Microsoft doesn't tell you is not only do you have to pay the $300.00 for Windows 7, but you have to buy new antivirus software along with a bunch of new games and programs as they no longer work.
Why would I get rid of a robust, Windows XP operating system that works with everything I own right now, rather than buy Windows 7, new Antivirus software, along with the fact that 40 percent of my older games are no longer working?
Hmm, I think I will stay with Windows XP once again, as I believe that due to Windows 7 not being as "Backwards Compatible" as they think, Windows 7 will become another Windows Vista.
